Meant to blog about this earlier but been quite busy with all other things that I totally forgot about it till I got reminded why the event even struck a chord with me..
ullae velliyae
I enjoyed the play..the portrayal was real, the situations that were created and the intensity with which they were presented were good, the scripting, I really enjoyed.
The Brechtian style of props was good. It allowed flexibility and they weren’t that abstract.
But it wasn’t all this that left the lasting impression..it was the story that Vishnu was enacting. A story all too familiar.

you said I was everything to you
all those dreams we planned for
all those good times we had
all the fights we went through
What a realistic portrayal too, with the actor who ended up with Shanthini’s character.
I kept turning to my side, to see if he was ok. I know Vishnu’s story must have hit home. Hard.
The good thing is that we had such a jovial bunch who were talking all the way, plus we were going to club A where all Indian men lose their worries. (haha.)
I really felt the pain of Siva’s and Vishnu’s characters. Though I didn’t really feel pity for Guna’s character..the character did not express the need for female characters to trust him. The script was such…he only showed a change of heart after he saw Prema’s character. Perhaps, he could have shown a consistent change and then Prema’s character rejected him. Then, I would have felt pity.
Kudos to RDG, it was a really good play. :)
On the other hand, I wonder whether the story hit home for its other audience members
Hee hee.
Ok, I’ll stop! (sha’s reprimanding voice plays in the background)
watched khabi alveda na kehna, but will save my comments till sha watches it!
til then, much love to all!
